Transactional Analysis
Transactional Analysis (TA) is an integrative theory of communication, personality and psychological functioning offering a powerful model for use in daily life, work, family, counselling, and psychotherapy practice.
This means that it is rooted in a philosophy that assumes that every human being has both the desire and the capacity to continually grow towards more health, wholeness and self actualisation. For us this means that we see all human beings as having inherent value and worth. We come into this world prepared for and needing relationship. For a variety of reasons our relationships frequently become difficult. Transactional Analysis focuses on development of the human spirit and therefore sits comfortably alongside Christian, Eastern and Humanistic perspectives.
Through relationship the techniques and methodology of TA allow the practitioner to open a window into unconscious processes. The analysis of transactions (communication) enables us to understand how we are still influenced by our early experiences - even in our adult life. These techniques are not mysterious, they are very practical. TA is an accessible model that anyone, including children, can learn to use to understand self and others.
